It is a bit early for us here in the south of the Lake District, but, there is not much of it. The top of the fells have a good covering which makes them look the danger that they really can be the lower fells a good dusting…..
Down at ground level, there is just some slush, but is this a sign of things to come this winter. There are red berries everywhere, the holly trees are festooned, the old wives tale is that the more berries the harsher the winter is going to be.
The birds are keen to see that I have filled up the bird feeders. Last year I had a great crested woodpecker as a daily visitor, last see if he is still about.
Now time to get that fire lit I think.
