And that includes Ellie the springy spaniel who is super keen on chasing ducks who can fly, and do so off the aqueduct!
So we headed away for a few days to North Wales this week and have stayed next to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (don’t even think of asking how that is pronounced)!
My morning walk with Ellie was therefore across the aqueduct and off along the canal. I must admit the first day, I did need to keep very close to the handrail and Ellie was on a very short lead. But confidence grew; although Ellie remained on her lead.
The drop is a mere 126 feet (38.4 metres). On one side is the tow path with metal railings along, the other is a small lip to keep the water in, along which the canal boats happily chug along. The feeling is amazing, such engineering, never mind the fact that it was built over 100 years ago!
Good time had!
