Ullswater…

And a good walk, although not too far when it is cold and windy, 11 miles is quite a hike.

I decided to go on a good walk with Ellie over the weekend, the Ullswater Way has been publicized for some years now but I have never done the whole thing (still haven’t) and even in bits I haven’t done it.

From Patterdale to route goes along the east side, through Howtown and ending in Pooley Bridge at the north end.

There were 3 empty barns, ripe for conversion into fantastic houses, except for the fact that they had no water, electric, road to get to them…. roof…

If you wanted to complete the whole walk,  you then keep going and although not on the shore as much, you climb the west side and end up back in Patterdale.

Ullswater was one of Alfred Wainwrights favourite lakes and there is mention to him as you are out and about.

I also headed over to Cockpit Stone Circle, not been there before either.

Good day out, and just had to call in at the White Lion in Patterdale for a swift drink!
